What Just Flew off the Pan!
Shashank was groomed to join the family legacy in the Indian military as a fighter pilot, but it was not to be. After years of training at military academies, Shashank learned that his eyesight would prevent his families’ dreams of a military career. At the age of seventeen Shashank’s Father flew him across three continents and left him in Miami with $125 dollars in his pocket for rent. He attended Miami Dade College and Florida International University as a foreign student. Shashank supported himself as a dishwasher at the famous Club 41 in Miami where he realized that he could make money and get free meals all at once.
He learned his love of food and cooking as he worked his way up through the ranks of the kitchen (in the interest of better eating). He transformed an education in International Restaurant Management into a career as a renowned 5-Star Executive Chef rated from the famous Chaine de Rotisseurs cooking for First Lady Barbara Bush, Vice President Dan Quayle and the rich and famous while living, vacationing and experiencing the fast life of South Florida. With all the fame and fortune found in America, to his parents and family in India he was still “just a cook” (rassoiya in Hindi). He had to do something better!
Sidewalk Chef
[A reality show concept]
Let's travel to different cities across
Sidewalk Chef – The Sidewalk Never Ends . . .
. . . The concept of Sidewalk Chef is: If a 5-star meal can be produced out of our mobile kitchen without the benefit of a fancy studio kitchen, Chef Shashank will show our viewers how easy it is to get these same results out of the comfort of their own kitchen. At the same time, Sidewalk Chef will provide eco-friendly tips, demonstrating our commitment to the environment. Each episode will highlight a specific locale by including scenes of Shashank shopping at the local farmer’s market for ingredients, and by Shashank’s choice of a local dish to prepare. Chef will demonstrate the joy of cooking 5-star gourmet meals from the constraints of an RV kitchen with 5-star flair using local products in a very short time frame and winning over complete strangers who walk up the Sidewalk to experience "What Just Flew Off the Pan".
